Abstract

This invention is related to antioxidant testing using the DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) method on the methanol extract of mintuna eggs (Tachypleus gigas), this invention is related to the utilization of methanol extract of mintuna eggs (Tachypleus gigas) which contain flavonoid compounds with the ability as natural antioxidants. The test begins with the preparation of methanol extract of mintuna eggs (Tachypleus gigas), preparation of test solutions, preparation of DPPH reagent solutions, and determination of antioxidant tests which begins with the determination of wavelength. The data obtained will be in the form of % inhibition and IC50. The IC50 obtained by the methanol extract of mintuna eggs (Tachypleus gigas) is in the very weak category, namely 597.0397 ppm. Then the IC50 of the comparative antioxidant compounds which include gallic acid, quercetin, and vitamin C are (0.8329; 1.5169; 2.2095) ppm, respectively.
