Abstract

This invention relates to a monitoring and control system for a micro-scale electrical network system or a small-scale microgrid based on the internet of things. This invention is a microgrid monitoring and control system that has isolated Analog Input / Output and Digital Input / Output ports, isolated UART RS-485 and MODBUS RTU RS-485 ports, isolated Ethernet ports and wireless connectivity, which are integrated with distributed energy systems such as solar energy (photovoltaic), energy storage systems (batteries), PLN networks, and loads, which utilize the Message Queuing Telemetry Transport (MQTT) protocol connected to a cloud server-based remote monitoring system to monitor and regulate electrical energy usage in the microgrid system.The test results of this invention show that by utilizing the MODBUS communication protocol, this device is able to read data from solar energy sources (photovoltaics), PLN networks, energy storage systems (batteries) and loads connected to the microgrid system, and with the MQTT communication protocol transmit data from the device to a cloud server-based remote monitoring system and control the power breaker components with an automatic load shedding scheme based on load priority and battery state of charge (SoC) data and a load scheduling scheme for efficient power usage.
