Abstract

A new ingredient is provided that can suppress the decline in kidney function and improve the condition of the coat in cats while maintaining the form of animal feed such as cat food for cats that have characteristics that differ from other mammals in kidney and the like. By using a poorly soluble soy protein ingredient that has a characteristic amino acid composition such that the mass ratio of glutamic acid (Glu) to leucine (Leu) is 2 or less and which has an NSI of 10 to 60%, it is possible to suppress the decline in kidney function in cats, and improve the condition of the coat with a small consumption. This ingredient can also be produced as a non-hydrolyzed residue in the production process of soy peptides.
