VISCOSITY INDEX IMPROVING ADDITIVES FOR LUBRICANT OILS AND THEIR MANUFACTURING PROCESS

Abstract

A viscosity index (VII) improving additive to lubricating oils consisting of hydrogenated linear polybutadiene with specific properties in terms of: average molecular weight (Mw); content of units with configuration 1,2; polydispersity index (PDI); degree of hydrogenation; dynamic viscosity; crystallization enthalpy (DHc). Such VII additives can be advantageously used in lubricating oil formulations, such as for passenger cars with diesel and gasoline engines, or for heavy-duty diesel engines, or in functional fluids such as, for example, fluids for manual or automatic transmissions, hydraulic fluids, as well as in industrial lubricants (e.g., gear lubricants for wind turbines).
