Abstract

The present invention relates to a χ-iron-carbide composite, a method of preparation thereof, and its use. The composite includes iron carbide and a halide ion, the iron carbide includes χ-iron-carbide, and the halide ion is a bromide ion and / or an iodide ion; the χ-iron-carbide and the halide ion have a molar ratio of 100:(0.1-45), and the number of moles of χ-iron-carbide is based on the number of moles of elemental iron contained therein; the composite has a monoclinic crystal structuremonoclinic crystal structure. The χ-iron-carbide composite according to one embodiment of the present invention can be used as a catalyst for synthesis gas conversion reactions. By introducing halide ions, such as bromine ions or iodide ions, into the χ-iron-carbide composite, the reaction has a high CO conversion rate and a very low overall CO2 selectivity, thus realizing comprehensive optimization of the reaction yield.
