Abstract
This invention relates to a non-formaldehyde adhesive formula based on a mixture of tannins from mangrove bark, tapioca, and latex for environmentally friendly plywood applications. The method of making the adhesive formula in this invention consists of the stages of preparing the base material of tannin extract from mangrove bark mixed with tapioca and latex, with 40% NaOH catalyst, and additives. Mixing of these materials is carried out at a temperature of 70 oC for 1 hour, stirred until homogeneous with a final pH of the mixture between 10 - 11. Conditioning of the adhesive is carried out for at least 3 hours before the TKL adhesive is used. For the process of making plywood products at low temperatures, the adhesive used is 170-200 g / cm2 on the surface of the veneer.
