Abstract

This invention discloses a human blood flow pressure-mimicking pump system for simulating medical training, specifically for microsurgical and endovascular procedures. The system includes a user interface subsystem in the form of an application on an Android mobile device that sends simulated parameters of systolic pressure, diastolic pressure, and heart rate to a microcontroller via Bluetooth communication. The microcontroller controls the direct current pump using PWM signals with closed loop feedback from pressure sensors and flow sensors located in the fluid path. The fluid circulation subsystem consists of a fluid tank, a network of pipes, and modular connectors that can be connected to various blood vessel models, while the blood substitute fluid is a glycerin-water mixture with several viscosity levels to simulate the viscosity of human blood. The system is capable of generating pulsatile flow with a range of flow rates, systolic pressures, diastolic pressures, and pulse frequencies that mimic both physiological and pathological conditions. Measurement data can be recorded on a memory card for analysis and reuse in simulation scenarios. The present invention provides a compact and precisely adjustable blood flow simulation platform to enhance cardiovascular training and research.
