Abstract
This invention relates to the effect of ethanol extract of coriander seed nanoparticles to reduce blood glucose levels in hyperglycemic Wistar rats. The prepared coriander seeds were extracted with 96% ethanol, the ethanol extract of coriander seeds was macerated at 450 °C. The pure ethanol extract was mixed and combined with a mixture of chitosan solution and sodium tripolyphosphate solution. LC-MS / MS compound analysis of coriander seed ethanol extract identified seven active compounds that have the potential to be antidiabetic, namely phenylalanine, indole, 4-methoxybenzaldehyde, 2,5-dimethoxybenzaldehyde, apigenin, 2-flouren-9-ylidenemethyl-pyridine, and 5-Pentyl-1,3-benzenediol. Characterization using PSA (Particle Size Analyzer), and blood glucose level measurement testing using a glucometer, as well as with KIT MDA and KIT SOD were carried out for the malondialdehyde test and SOD test (Superoxide Dismutase). The results showed that the coriander seed nanoparticle extract with a mixture of chitosan-polyphosphate produced a zeta potential value of -25.80 mV with a particle size of 455.20 nm and the results of the antihyperglycemic test showed that oral administration at a dose of 50 mg / Kg BW / day provided the best results for reducing glucose, blood MDA, and increasing SOD levels in hyperglycemic mice. Thus, this invention can provide optimal effects to reduce blood glucose levels in experimental mice.
