ROBOTIC DEVICE FOR COATING AND / OR PRE-TREATMENT OF AIR TRANSMISSION OR DISTRIBUTION LINE CONDUCTORS

Abstract

A robotic device 300 for applying coating and / or treatment to an overhead transmission or distribution line includes a pair of wheels 302, 304 configured to travel over the line conductor. A pair of applicators 322, 323 are provided at the front and rear ends of the device 300 for applying the coating or pretreatment to the line. The wheels 302, 304 are mounted to the upper bar 312 of a T-shaped connector 315 on the chassis. The connector 315 includes a bar 314 that suspends the main body 350 of the device 300 below the wheels. First and second tanks are located in the first and second portions 354, 356 of the main body 350 for storing fluid for use in the pretreatment or coating process. The fluid is supplied from the tanks to the applicators 322, 323 by means of a pump through a fluid passage disposed into the hollow interior of the connector 315.
