Abstract

Disclosed is a method and apparatus for determining a railway crossing hazard, wherein a railway crossing hazard determination apparatus installed at a railway crossing receives railway control information and sensing information from a sensor, calculates railway crossing safety facility state information based on at least one of the railway control information and sensing information, calculates obstacle presence information according to one or more respective predetermined obstacle detection algorithms based on the sensing information, and determines whether a predetermined hazard criterion is met based on the railway crossing safety facility state information and obstacle presence information to determine the railway crossing hazard.
