Abstract

This invention relates to a nanophytosome-based oral thin film (OTF) composition containing a combination of Curcuma longa (turmeric) and Centella asiatica (gotu kola) extracts to support vascular function and as an adjuvant therapy in individuals with hypertension or impaired vascular function. Nanophytosomes are formed through a phytoconstituent phospholipid complex using soy lecithin and stabilized with Cremophor RH40 through a water-based process without alcohol and without organic solvents, thus fulfilling halal aspects and minimizing the risk of solvent residues. Based on characterization, Formula 3 (soy lecithin 4.5%; Cremophor RH40 52.15%) was chosen as the preferred formula because it produces a stable and homogeneous dispersion with a particle size of 53.487 nm, PdI 0.345, zeta potential -19.767 mV, and %EE 99.6232%.The nanophytosome suspension is then uniformly incorporated into a film-forming polymer matrix to produce standardized OTF sheets that disintegrate in the oral cavity with a disintegration time of approximately 1 minute 27 seconds to 1 minute 34 seconds, thus supporting the early release and bioavailability of the active phytoconstituents. The manufacturing method includes nanophytosome formation, film solution preparation, incorporation, casting, controlled drying, and single-dose cutting.
