Abstract
This invention presents a servo motor-based electro-mechanical braking actuation device designed for individual autonomous vehicles. This system replaces the conventional hydraulic actuation mechanism by using servo motors electronically controlled via a microcontroller, thus capable of autonomous operation without human intervention. This system is integrated with various perception sensors such as cameras, LiDAR, or ultrasonic sensors to detect environmental conditions in real-time. The system configuration consists of two servo motors mounted on the left and right sides of the brake caliper, each driving a push arm to activate the brake caliper. The braking system in this invention implements five braking modes determined by the combination of rotation angles of the servo motors, with a range of 90° to 140° for the left servo motor and 90° to 40° for the right servo motor, thus producing a precise and gradual braking level. This system is designed for application in individual autonomous vehicles and light electric vehicles that require an accurate and reliable braking system.
