Abstract

This invention relates to auxiliary propulsion for merchant ships, more specifically a rigid sail auxiliary propulsion for merchant ships with lightweight and corrosion-resistant composite materials that have a balance of lift and drag values, so that this invention provides an alternative technical solution in the form of increasing the efficiency of fossil fuel use.The propulsion of the present invention comprises: a rigid sail; a shaft connected to the rigid sail; a base plate attached to the bottom of the rigid sail; a pair of outer shells consisting of a right outer shell and a left outer shell forming a rigid sail casing; at least one support beam arranged longitudinally between the right outer shell and the left outer shell; and five ribs arranged transversely within the rigid sail, each of which comprises a first rib, a second rib, a third rib, a fourth rib, and a fifth rib; and the fifth rib has a hole connected to the shaft.
