Abstract

This invention relates to a process for making synthetic thatched roofs based on wood-plastic composite using a reactively modified recycled polyolefin compatibilizer, more specifically a process for making synthetic thatched roofs based on wood-plastic composite (WPC) using a polyolefin compatibilizer in such a way as to produce environmentally friendly synthetic thatched roofs, which can be recycled, have high mechanical strength, and have a long service life. The method in this invention consists of the following steps: categorizing plastic waste according to the type of polymer used to make them; cleaning plastic waste from impurities; grinding 20-25 plastic waste into small plastic pellets; making a mixture of plastic pellet waste, biomass, and compatibilizer using an extruder; making pellets of the plastic and biomass mixture; and printing synthetic thatched roofs. In this invention, a WPC-based synthetic thatched roof product is produced using a compatibilizer made from recycled polyolefin resulting from reactive modification which is environmentally friendly, recyclable, has high mechanical strength, and has a long service life.
