Abstract

This invention concerns an Ultra-wideband (UWB) antenna that has been widely used for radio and radar telecommunications applications. Ultra-wideband (UWB) microstrip antennas have several advantages including relatively small dimensions, low transmit power, and easy fabrication. The purpose of this article is to determine the optimization of the performance of microstrip antennas with patch and ground plane modifications for Ultra-wideband (UWB) applications. The method used is electromagnetic computing. Based on the research conducted, with a rectangular patch design with triangular cuts and an L-shaped slot on the ground plane, an antenna capable of working at UWB frequencies was obtained. This UWB microstrip antenna has dimensions of 28 mm x 32 mm x 1.6 mm with fabrication using FR-4 substrate material with a dielectric constant (εr) = 4.3.The simulation results of a UWB microstrip antenna with a triangular section and L-slot on the ground plane show that the antenna can operate at UWB frequencies from 2.83 GHz to 10.92 GHz. The highest gain value is produced at a frequency of 9 GHz of 4.29 dBi with elliptical polarization and an omnidirectional radiation pattern.

Description

Microstrip Antenna with Patch and Ground Plane Modification FOR ULTRAWIDEBAND (UWB) APPLICATIONS Invention Engineering Field This invention concerns Microstrip Antennas, more particularly, This invention relates to modifications to patches and ground plane on a microstrip antenna so that the antenna is capable works at ultrawideband frequencies. Background of the Invention Furthermore, the proposed invention is intended to solve problems by providing discounts triangle on the patch and add two shaped slots L and one square slot on partial ground. Brief Description of the Invention The main objective of this invention is to overcome pre-existing problems especially for ultrawideband applications especially in the frequency range 1 Gigahertz to 5 Gigahertz. Other goals and benefits as well as the meaning more complete than the following invention as an embodiment which is preferred and will be explained with reference to accompanying pictures. Short Description of Image Figure l, is a UWB microstrip antenna that has been modified patch with two triangular pieces and partial ground plane with two L-shaped slots and one square shaped slot. Complete Description of the Invention This invention will be fully described in referring to the accompanying images. Referring to Figure 1, which shows a detailed image complete microstrip antenna, which has been modified by providing triangular cuts on the patch and provide L-shaped and square cuts on partial ground. 1.
