Abstract
The process of isolating gallic acid and its derivatives that have the potential as anticancer from casturi bark (Mangifera casturi) is carried out by making a methanol extract from casturi bark, then fractionation produces an ethyl acetate fraction. The ethyl fraction is separated and purified by column chromatography. The results of column chromatography produce gallic acid and three derivatives, namely methyl gallate, 3,4-dihydroxybenzoic acid, and glucogallin with large quantities or amounts produced. This invention isolates or produces gallic acid and three derivatives from casturi bark where the process and stages are easier and shorter and the resulting compounds are more numerous so that they are more effective and efficient and the quantity of the resulting compounds is large. In addition, this compound is also very promising potential as an anticancer blood. Therefore, casturi bark can be used as a potential primary source of gallic acid and its derivatives as well as an anti-blood cancer agent.
