Abstract
This invention relates to a nanoemulsion preparation of a combination of ethanol extracts of jackfruit leaves and butterfly pea flowers with rejuvenation and antimelasma activities. The nanoemulsion preparation formulation contains 8.5% combination of ethanol extracts of jackfruit leaves and butterfly pea flowers (active ratio 1:3) as a rejuvenating and brightening agent, labrasol as a surfactant, tween 80 as a co-surfactant, propylene glycol as a co-surfactant, Flocare SK 425 0.10% (w / v) as a rheological stabilizer, and up to 100% distilled water as the water phase. The preparation was then evaluated for organoleptic properties, average globule size, polydispersity index (PDI), zeta potential, and thermodynamic stability tests (centrifugation, heating–cooling, and freeze–thaw), antioxidant activity tests (DPPH, FRAP, and CUPRAC), and tyrosinase inhibition to obtain an optimum preparation.A nanoemulsion preparation combining ethanol extracts of jackfruit leaves and butterfly pea flowers has been found with good physical and functional characteristics: clear appearance, green color, distinctive smell of jackfruit leaves and butterfly pea flowers, and homogeneous (one phase); globule size 81 nm; PDI 0.2; zeta potential −0.8 mV; and stable in thermodynamic tests. In bioactivity testing, it showed antioxidant activity (DPPH) 25.49928%, (FRAP) 11.72 ± 0.2 mg / GAE, (CUPRAC) 15.22 ± 0.3 mg / GAE, and tyrosinase inhibition 74.765%, these results support the claims of rejuvenation and antimelasma. The evaluation results confirm that the proposed nanoemulsion preparation is stable, effective, and suitable for modern skin care applications.
