Abstract
This invention relates to the method of extracting antibacterial extract from Sonneratia alba mangrove fruit petals using boiling water solvent as a functional drink. This antibacterial extract is produced through an extraction process by boiling in boiling water at 94-96°C in a stainless steel container on a gas stove with an extraction time of 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 minutes. The liquid extract is then evaporated to obtain a thick extract, the thick extract is dried in a 70°C oven to obtain a dry extract, the dry extract is tested for antibacterial activity. The best antibacterial activity value, namely the diameter of the inhibition zone, is found in the extract with an extraction time of 5 minutes against six pathogenic bacteria, namely: Staphylocooccus aureus 18.3mm, Eschericia coli 15.0mm, Streptococcus mutans 16.3mm, Bacillus cereus 13.2mm, Salmonella typhi 10.3mm and Pseudomonas aeruginosa 10.8mm.With the embodiment of this invention, the extraction method by boiling powdered Sonneratia alba mangrove fruit petals with an extraction time of 5 minutes can be used as an antibacterial functional drink. Therefore, this invention can be proposed as a new invention because this extraction method produces an extract with strong antibacterial activity and can be developed as an antibacterial functional drink that can be applied in the beverage industry.
