Abstract
A single low-voltage DC source cannot directly produce a quality 220 volt effective (RMS) AC voltage without requiring multiple separate voltage sources or complex balancing sensors. This invention addresses these issues by integrating a single power switch-based Multilevel Boost converter with an eight-switch Packed U-Cell (PUC) inverter capable of self-balancing capacitor voltage at a ratio of 3:2:1, thereby producing a seven-level AC voltage waveform from a single low-voltage source without additional balancing sensors. The regulation of the output voltage at 220 volts effective (RMS) is carried out by a controller unit via a single output voltage reading path; in this invention it is implemented using a Type-2 Fuzzy Logic Controller, although other control methods such as a proportional-integral (PI) controller or a Type-1 fuzzy logic controller can also be implemented on the same architecture.
