EDEMA DEPTH MEASUREMENT SYSTEM USING DIGITAL EDEMA DEPTH RULER (EDERD)

Abstract

The edema depth measurement system uses the Edema Depth Ruler Digital (EDeRD) which utilizes a modified digital depth gauge into a special tool for quantitative edema measurement. The system consists of a digital depth gauge, a measuring support base placed on the skin surface around the edema area and a pitting depth made of nylon with a rounded and blunt tip. The pitting depth is mounted on the moving part of the digital depth gauge and can move relative to the measuring support base to touch the bottom of the edema indentation. The difference in position between the measuring support base and the pitting depth is measured by the digital depth gauge and displayed directly as an edema depth value in millimeters. The system is configured to be used with the device positioned perpendicular to the skin surface in the measurement area and is equipped with a zero calibration mechanism before use.This invention enables direct, objective, precise, and easy-to-use measurement of edema depth in healthcare settings. The system has a measurement range of 0.00 mm to 21.00 mm with a resolution of 0.01 mm.
