Abstract
This invention concerns an Internet of Things (IoT)-based temperature monitoring and active cooling system for brake pads for motor vehicles. The system consists of a thermocouple sensor, a MAX6675 module, an ESP32 microcontroller, an I2C LCD, a relay, a buzzer, a water pump, a mist nozzle, and a web dashboard. The thermocouple sensor measures the brake pad temperature, then the measured signal is converted into digital data by the MAX6675 module and processed by the ESP32 microcontroller. The temperature data is displayed on the LCD and sent to the web dashboard for real-time monitoring. When the brake pad temperature reaches a predetermined value, the microcontroller automatically activates the relay to operate the buzzer and the water pump. The water pump flows water to the mist nozzle, producing a water mist spray as active cooling on the brake pad. The activation temperature value and spray duration can be set through a program on the microcontroller according to user needs. This invention allows for real-time temperature monitoring as well as automatic active cooling control to help maintain the working temperature of the brake pads in motor vehicle braking systems.
