AI Technical Summary
Technical Problem
Current insecticides and biological solutions for managing insect pests are harmful to the ecosystem, toxic to humans, and face issues with genetic resistance, while existing biological methods are inefficient and disrupt ecological balance.
Method used
Development of nanobodies that specifically bind to insect HSP70, utilizing their insect control activity to manage pests by targeting the heat shock protein 70, which can be formulated for delivery through spraying, irrigation, or fumigation, and can be used in transgenic plants.
Benefits of technology
The nanobodies effectively control insect pests, including whiteflies and aphids, with high specificity and minimal ecological impact, reducing the risk of genetic resistance and environmental harm.

Abstract
Anti-insect HSP70 nanobodies are provided. Accordingly, there is provided a nanobody which specifically binds to an insect HSP70, wherein binding of the nanobody to the insect HSP70 confers an insect control activity to the nanobody. Also provided are polynucleotides encoding the nanobody, host cells expressing the nanobody and methods of using it.
