Abstract

The present invention relates to a transformer comprising a core (112) and winding (204) wound around a winding axis AW extending along a limb of the core (112), said winding (204) terminating in an axial end surface (207, 208) extending in a direction perpendicular to said winding axis AW, said transformer comprising a ring (205, 611, 705, 1705) comprising magnetic material, said ring being located outside said winding (204) and adjacent to said axial end surface (207, 208). The ring (205, 611, 705, 330, 530) comprises a set of magnetic metal components (331, 533, 534, 1533), such as magnetic metal sheets, said magnetic metal components (331, 533, 534, 1533) being distributed about the winding axis AW and electrically insulated from each other. The core (112) comprises a yoke (1200), said yoke (1200) extending radially across the ring (205, 611, 705, 1705), at one or more crossing locations 1300, from a radial inside of the ring (205, 611, 705, 1705) to a radial outside of the ring (205, 611, 705, 1705). The cross-sectional height of the ring (205, 611, 705, 1705) varies about the winding axis AW such that magnetic metal components (331, 533, 534, 1533) at the crossing locations (1300) have lower height along the winding axis AW than magnetic metal components further away from the crossing locations (1300).
