Abstract

The present invention relates to a portable smokeless cremation device for incinerating infected and non –infected dead animals that use fuels such as wood, briquettes and cow dung cakes. Description

FIELD OF THE INVENTIONThe present invention relates to a portable smokeless cremation device for incinerating infected and non-infected dead animals that use fuels such as wood, briquettes and cow dung cakes. The cremation device uses less amount of fuel, gives out a smokeless flame and heats upto more than 800°C, ensuring complete sterilization to cremate the dead animal.BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION[1] The cremation of domestic pets, stray animals and animals in agricultural husbandries is a substantial challenge since burning the dead carcass produces offensive smoke and odours generated as a byproduct of burning. [8] The main problem is that all the known equipment's for animal cremation and purification are non-potable and uses high fuels. Moreover, the existing system of body disposal is either electric crematorium which is expensive and has high operating costs due to higher power consumption. The second option is also gas or diesel-fired, which is not widespread due to ritual reasons. [9] The existing traditional process of electrical cremation employs expensive, high operating costs, and high-power consumption. Therefore, the people are still hesitant to use electric crematoriums.

[10] We are here disclosing the solution of above problems. The present invention describes novel device, which we have named as "Portable Cremation Incinerator for Animals" (abbreviated as PCIPA hereafter), which can be used to cremate and sterilize the dead animal bodies and remains thereof. PCIPA can entirely burn the infected as well as non-infected dead animals. The best part is that it can be taken anywhere as per the requirement. Rotary clubs, temples, gurudwaras can easily use it.

[11] The developed device of a moveable cremation system which claims to be using first of its kind technology that involves smokeless cremation despite using fuels such as wood, briquettes and cow dung cakes. It uses less amount of the fuels otherwise required for the cremation and still is eco-friendly because of the technology that uses a combustion air system.

[12] The PCIPA cremation system heats up more than 800 degrees Celsius, ensuring complete sterilization that can be used to cremate the dead animals.

[13] The said system and method are more energy efficient, cost effective and environment friendly. The said method and device are unique in terms of its simplicity, expandability, multiple utility etc.OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION

[14] The main objective of the invention is to provide a portable smokeless device for incinerating infected and non -infected dead animals

[15] Another objective of the invention is to provide a fuel-efficient device using fuels such as wood, briquettes and cow dung cakes and reduce consumption of fuel by half.

[17] These and other features and advantages of the present invention may be incorporated into certain embodiments of the invention and will become more fully apparent from the following description or may be learned by the practice of the invention as set forth hereinafter. The present invention does not require that all the advantageous features and all the advantages described herein be incorporated into every embodiment of the invention.SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[18] The present invention discloses an ecofriendly, portable cremation device. It uses a combustion air system which results in complete combustion of fuel leading to smokeless burning, with temperatures rising to more than 1000°C and result in complete sterilization.

[19] This cremation device requires fuel which is almost half the amount of fuel that is required in conventional methods.

[20] The device is placed on a portable cart, comprising of two wheels.

[21] The device comprises of a flat rack container for holding irregular and heavy animals. It has a platform and is open sided on two ends to allow efficient loading of the animal, securing it and transporting it. The platform is made in such a manner that it allows circulation of air and disposal of ashes into a tray which lies underneath the platform. The platform comprises of multiple long cubical bars placed end to end. These cubical bars are made of spheroidal cast iron which gives the platform high strength. The bars are so placed that one corner of the cubical bars lies adjacent to one corner of the other cubical bar, such that there is an air gap between the two corners. This construction allows inlet of primary air from underneath the platform through the air gaps and provides a percentage of the combustion air. The primary air flows uninterrupted into the container and reduces the amount of fuel that is burnt. The construction also allows slipping of ash through the air gap onto the tray beneath the platform.

[22] The platform is supported by an extended girder to allow the device to bear the heavy weight of the dead animal. The multiple hexagonal openings in the web flange of the extended girder act as inlets for the secondary air from the atmosphere to enter the device.

[23] The two side walls of the flat rack container are double walled. The side walls are supported by an extended girder. The extended girder is constructed such that the hexagonal openings in the web flange allow the secondary air entering the gap between the double walls to get heated. The inner side of the double wall has perforations on the upper half. The perforations allow the heated secondary air within the double wall to emerge out and provide a heated environment in the device. The heated secondary air dries up all the moisture of the fuel and also the moisture present in the dead carcass and promotes the fuel and the dried carcass to burn completely with a smokeless flame. Thus, the fuel required is nearly halved. The outer wall of the double wall is insulated so that it does not allow the heat to escape, maintaining the temperature in the device to provide complete sterilization also. [43] The present invention discloses an ecofriendly, portable cremation device (100). It uses a combustion air system which results in complete combustion of fuel leading to smokeless burning, with temperatures rising to more than 1000°C and result in complete sterilization. This cremation device requires around 200-250 kg of wood for 80-100kg animal which is almost half the amount of wood that is required in conventional methods.

[44] The device (100) is placed on a portable cart (108), comprising of atleast two wheels.

[45] The device comprises of a flat rack container (101) for holding irregular and heavy animals. It has a platform (102) and is open sided on two ends to allow efficient loading of the animal, securing it and transporting it. The platform is made in such a manner that it allows circulation of air and disposal of ashes into a tray (103) which lies underneath the platform. The platform comprises of multiple long cubical bars (104) placed end to end. These cubical bars are made of spheroidal cast iron which gives the platform high strength. The extended girder is constructed such that the hexagonal openings in the web flange allow the primary air to enter the device. The fire once ignited heats the secondary air entering the gap between the double walls to get heated. The inner side of the double wall has perforations (107) on the upper half. The perforations allow the heated secondary air within the double wall to emerge out and provide a heated environment in the device. The heated secondary air dries up all the moisture of the fuel and also the moisture present in the dead carcass and promotes the fuel and the dried carcass to burn completely with a smokeless flame. Thus, the fuel required is nearly halved. The outer wall of the double wall is insulated so that it does not allow the heat to escape, maintaining the temperature in the device to provide complete sterilization also. Thus, complete disposal of the body is achieved in 10-12 hours including the cooling time.

[48] In an embodiment of the invention, the portable cremation device comprises of a flat rack container (101) supported by extended girders (105) on two sides and mounted on a cart with wheels (108).

[49] In an embodiment, the flat rack container comprises of a platform (102) made of multiple cubical bars (104). The cubical bars are placed end to end such that the corner on the long edge of one cubical bar lies adjacent to the corner of the long edge of the other adjacent cubical bar, but not touching it, leaving a small air gap in between to minimize resistance to flow of primary air which enters the device through the platform and disposal of ash which is collected in a tray placed below the platform.

[50] In an embodiment, the flat rack container comprises of two double walled sides (106) wherein the outer wall is insulated and made of stainless steel, and the inner wall has multiple perforations (107) on the upper half to allow the heated secondary air to enter the device.

[51] In an embodiment, the extended girder (105) on which the double walled sides rest has multiple hexagonal openings on the web flange to allow secondary air to enter the space in the double walled sides.

The wheeled cart has a stainless-steel body with insulation for heat loss control and a tray beneath for ash removal.6. This machine is towable (wheel mounted) can be taken anywhere. Therefore, PCIPA is a portable process.7. The Cart has a primary and secondary hot air system for proper combustion.8. Spheroidal Graphite Iron bars helps to sustain the high-temperature burning.9. The machine is compact in design hence useful in areas where having space constraints for cremation.10. The animal body disposal is completed within 8-12 hrs.

[61] Advantages of device:1. Due to proper insulation, the incinerator enabled high-temperature burning, with less fuel and less heat loss.2. This incinerator ensures complete burning & sterilization, takes less cooling time, and is portable on wheels.3. This system should be acceptable to the community as the traditional method of fuel burning for disposal of the animal body is not being done properly till now.4. The cubical bars are placed diagonally to ensure smooth flow of ash & low resistance to airflow, as indicated above.5. It also has system for pre-heating the air before supplying for drying of fuel before burning.6. It has heat-proof insulation to reduce fuel consumption & keep the body of the cart cool from outside.

[62] WORKING OF THE DEVICEFirstly, in the device (100), the platform (102) of the flat rack container (101) is lined with fuel. The dead or infected animal is placed above the fuel and is covered with more fuel. The fuel lined on the platform (102) is ignited and the primary air enters from underneath the fuel through the gaps between the cubical bars. Another source of primary air is the hexagonal openings in the web flange of the extended girder (105), through which primary air from the surroundings enters the device. The fuel catches fire, and the fire once ignited heats the secondary air entering the gap between the double walls to get heated. The inner side of the double wall has perforations (107) on the upper half. The perforations allow the heated secondary air within the double wall to emerge out and provide a heated environment in the device. The heated secondary air dries up all the moisture of the fuel and also the moisture present in the dead carcass and promotes the fuel and the dried carcass to burn completely with a smokeless flame. The ash is collected in the tray (103) placed below the platform.

[63] The disclosed system and method are more energy efficient, cost effective and environment friendly. The said method and device are unique in terms of its simplicity, expandability, multiple utility etc.

[64] The processes described above is described as a sequence of steps, this was done solely for the sake of illustration. Accordingly, it is contemplated that some steps may be added, some steps may be omitted, the order of the steps may be rearranged, or some steps may be performed simultaneously.

[65] Although embodiments have been described with reference to specific example embodiments, it will be evident that various modifications and changes may be made to these embodiments without departing from the broader spirit and scope of the system and method described herein. Claims

1. A portable, smokeless cremation device for incinerating dead and infected animals comprising of a flat rack container supported by extended girders on two sides and mounted on a cart with wheels, wherein the flat rack container comprises of a. a platform made of multiple cubical bars placed end to end such that the corner on the long edge of one cubical bar lies adjacent to the corner of the long edge of the other adjacent cubical bar, but not touching it, leaving a small air gap in between to minimize resistance to flow of primary air which enters the device through the platform and disposal of ash which is collected in a tray placed below the platform; b. two double walled sides wherein the outer wall is insulated and the inner wall has multiple perforations on the upper half to allow the heated secondary air to enter the device; c. and the extended girder on which the double walled sides rest has multiple hexagonal openings on the web flange to allow secondary air to enter the space in the double walled sides.

2. The portable, smokeless cremation device, as claimed in claim 1, wherein the cubical bars are made of spheroidal cast iron.

3. The portable, smokeless cremation device, as claimed in claim 1, wherein the outer wall of the double walled side is insulated and made of stainless steel.

4. The portable, smokeless cremation device, as claimed in claim 1, wherein a tray is placed under the platform to collect the ashes.

5. The portable, smokeless cremation device, as claimed in claim 1, wherein the temperature in the device is 800-1000°C.

6. The portable, smokeless cremation device, as claimed in claim 1, wherein a smokeless flame is produced during incineration.

7. The portable, smokeless cremation device, as claimed in claim 1, wherein complete combustion and sterilization is achieved within 10-12 hours, which also includes the time of cooling.
