ABSTRACT METHOD FOR PREPARATION OF PAVER BLOCK USING ORGANIC WASTE The present invention discloses a method (100) for preparation of paver block using the waste organic materials. Description

TECHNICAL FIELDThe present invention relates to the field of paver blocks preparationtechniques and its methods. More specifically, the present invention relatedto a method for preparation of paver blocks by using the wastes coconutshell, onion husk, rice husk and banana leaf materials.BACKGROUNDThe paver blocks are used in the exterior designing of roads, parkingand the like. The paver blocks are normally made by the mixing of cement,fine aggregates, coarse aggregated and water. The raw material cost alsoincreases the price of paver blocks directly. There are many alternatives havebeen arrived for the replacement of fine and coarse aggregated in theconstruction and its related industries. The cement concentration is animportant factor in the paver blocks quality. There are no alternatives havebeen generated for the alternative of cement in equivalent quality. Onanother side, the wastes of organic materials are utilized in various ways likemanure, power generation, fuel preparation and the like. Thus, there is aneed to introduce a method for preparation of paver blocks from organicwastes to reduce the cement percentage in the block making processes. Thepresent method reduces the cement concentration in the paver blockpreparation process by mixing the organic wastes. The present invention willovercome the aforementioned problems, limitations and disadvantages in aneffective manner.OBJECT OF THE INVENTIONThe primary object of the present invention is to provide a method forpreparation of paver blocks using organic waste materials.Another object of the present invention is to reduce the concentrationlevel of cements for making the paver blocks in maximum quality.Yet another object of the present invention is to provide an alternativemixture for cement composition for reducing the cost of paver blocks in themarket.Yet another object of the present invention is to provide an ecofriendly paver blocks by using the coconut shell, onion husk, rice husk andbanana leaf wastes.These and other objects and advantages of the present invention willbecome readily apparent from the following detailed description taken inconjunction with the accompanying drawings.SUMMARYThe various embodiment of the present invention discloses a methodfor preparation of paver block using organic wastes. The method forpreparation of paver block comprises the steps of collecting the organicwastes from the kitchen of the like places. The method also includes theconverting the coconut shell, onion husk, rice husk and banana leaf wastesinto ash. The method further comprises mixing of 17.62% of a cement, 0.49%of a coconut shell ash, 0.49% of a onion husk ash, 0.49% of a rice husk ash,0.49% of a banana leaf ash, 41.12% of a fine aggregate and 39.28% of acoarse aggregate.The method also includes rotating the mixed composition (step b) by aconcrete mixer for 15 minutes, compacting the concrete mix in a desiredshaped mould by a vibrating table, keeping the mould (step d) in directsunlight for 24 hours and curing of block with water to permit the completehardening.These and other aspects of the embodiments herein will be betterappreciated and understood when considered in conjunction with thefollowing description and the accompanying drawings. The coconut shell, onion husk, ricehusk and banana leaf were collected from household and agricultural field ofSamayapuram which is small village / town in Tiruchirappalli district, TamilNadu, India. The natural organic waste materials were converted as the ash.The conversion (110) of ash is increasing the blending of quality whilemixing with the cement.Fig 1 is illustrating the flowchart of paver block preparation method,according to an embodiment of the present invention. The method alsocomprises the mixing (120) of cement, fine and coarse aggregate, organicwaste and water. The raw materials were mixed in the 17.62% of cement,0.49% of a coconut shell ash, 0.49% of a onion husk ash, 0.49% of a rice huskash, 0.49% of a banana leaf ash, 41.12% of a fine aggregate and 39.28% of acoarse aggregate. The 17.62% of cement is equal to 1.05kg, 0.49% of coconutshell, onion husk, rice husk and banana leaf is equal to 0.0292kg, 41.12% offine aggregate is equal to 2.45kg and 39.28% of coarse aggregate is equal to2.34kg. The raw materials were mixed by a concrete mixer for rotating (130)the period of 15 minutes.Fig 2A is illustrating the mixing of organic waste with cement,according to an embodiment of the present invention. The method (100)further comprises the compacting (140) of concrete mix in a desired shapedmould by a vibrating table. The vibrating table is properly distributing thematerials inside the mould for preventing the cracks and air bubbleformation. The mould was kept (150) under the sunlight for the period of 24hours. Finally, the curing (160) of block with water is permitting thecomplete hardening of paver block. The water to cement ratio is 0.5 of itsweight.In an embodiment, the rice husk ash used instead of cement inconcrete making, producing efficient concrete with improved concreteproperties like impermeability, workability, strength, and corrosion of steelreinforcement. For reasonable improvement of concrete, increasing the useof cement raw materials must be preserved. The rice husk ash is anexceptionally responsive pozzolanic material used as an Ordinary PortlandCement substitution.In an embodiment, the onion ash is used as a raw material in theproduction of paver blocks. The onion ash is a waste product generatedduring the processing of onions, and it contains minerals such as calcium,potassium, and phosphorus. The use of onion ash in paver block productioncan provide the following benefits: Reduce the cost of production by utilizinga readily available waste material instead of purchasing expensive rawmaterials. Potentially improve the compressive strength and durability ofpaver blocks by using onion ash as a partial replacement for cement. Create aunique visual and textural characteristic for paver blocks, as onion ash canimpart a distinctive colour and texture to the blocks. Create an eco-friendlyand sustainable solution for construction needs by utilizing a waste productas a raw material.Fig 2B is illustrating the extracted paver block from the mould,according to an embodiment of the present invention. In an embodiment ofthe present invention, the raw materials were placed in a concrete mixerafter mixing (120) of composition in an exact manner. The mixer was rotatedcontinuously for 15 minutes. The prepared mix is discharged from the mixer.The vibrating table is used for compacting (140) of concrete mix in themoulds of desired sizes and shapes. After compacting the blocks aredemoulded and kept (150) for 24 hours in a shelter away from directsunlight. The blocks thus hardened are cured (160) with water to permitcomplete moisturization.Fig 2C is illustrating the curing of paver block, according to anembodiment of the present invention. The concrete paving blocks gain goodstrength during the first 3 days of curing and maximum gains in strengths aresecured in the first 10 to 15 days of curing. After curing, blocks are allowed todry in shade so that the initial shrinkage of the blocks is completed beforethey are used. A drying period of 7 to 15 days would normally complete thedrying shrinkage after which they can be used.The manufactured paver blocks were tested in different aspects. Thecompressive test was conducted as per Is 516-1959. The pavers by using thesize is 250x150x80 mm specimen were used for compressive strength withthe help of CTM, till the specimen to be failure.Table 1 illustrates the compressive test of ordinary paver blockTable 2 illustrates the compressive test of inventive paver blockThe water absorption test procedures were followed by IS 15658:2006. The test specimens were dried in a ventilated oven at 107±70oc for 24hours. After that the test specimens were completely immersed in water for24 hours. Then the specimen is taken out from the water and allowed them todry in room temperature for 2 hours. Then the specimens were wiped off andweighed immediately. The weight of each specimen was noted. The increasein weight as a percentage of the original weight is expressed as its absorption(in percent).Table 3 illustrates the result of water absorption testThe flexural test was conducted as per Is 516-1959. The pavers byusing the size is 250x150x80 mm specimen were used for compressivestrength with the help of UTM, till the specimen to be failure.Table 4 illustrates the comparative flexural strength of paver blockcements to the concrete mix.It is noted that the above-described examples of the present inventionis for the purpose of illustration only. Although the present invention hasbeen described in conjunction with a specific example thereof, numerousmodifications may be possible without materially departing from theteachings and advantages of the subject matter described herein. Othersubstitutions, modifications and changes may be made without departingfrom the spirit of the present solution. A method (100) for preparation of paver block using organic waste comprising the step of: a) Converting (110) the coconut shell, onion husk, rice husk and banana leaf wastes into ash; b) Mixing (120) of 17.62% of a cement, 0.49% of a coconut shell ash, 0.49% of a onion husk ash, 0.49% of a rice husk ash, 0.49% of a banana leaf ash, 41.12% of a fine aggregate and 39.28% of a coarse aggregate; c) Rotating (130) the mixed composition (step b) by a concrete mixer for 15 minutes; d) Compacting (140) the concrete mix in a desired shaped mould by a vibrating table; e) Keeping (150) the mould (step d) in direct sunlight for 24 hours; and, f) Curing (160) of block with water to permit the complete hardening.
