Abstract
Description
FIELD OF INVENTIONThis invention relates generally to a system and method for adhesive sticker taping and more specifically to a system and method for small-scale and medium-scale production of oleo phobic VHB tape-affixed stickers used in snickering various products.BACKGROUND OF INVENTIONThe main focus of the development of this Semi-Automated Roller Operated Double sided VHB taping machine is to automate the process of sticker manufacturing, more specifically the VHB tape-affixed stickers. VHB labelling involves affixing VHB tape to printed stickers. VHB stands for "Very High Bond." As the name implies, it is a double-sided tape with industrial strength. This type of labelling is used in cases where the adhesive is not needed on the entire surface of a certain printed sticker. This tape is highly oleophobic and hence therefore be used mostly in oil container labelling. Affixing VHB tapes to stickers is done manually in . many medium-scale and small-scale printing presses, and it is a very tedious process. This involves a lot of manual labour and is extremely time-consuming. This problem is faced by various printing companies and costs them a lot in defective stickers, the elevated cost of manual labour, delays in delivery of finished stickers, and so on. Thus, this process needs to be mechanized and automated so that the cost of production spent on manpower, defective stickers, and product delay penalties can be exponentially reduced. This proposed solution consists of the fabrication of a semi-automatic framework made of easily available parts, including rollers, edge guides, motors, a PWM speed control switch governor, a tape roll holder with pressure screws, guides, and an output tray. With the development of this machine, the target users will experience large-scale production of VHB-affixed stickers with decreased production time and labour costs.Application Number: 202221055549 titled "Adhesive tape application device" discloses that- "The present invention relates to an adhesive tape application device which is capable of monitoring the hand gestures of user for applying the adhesive tape over the user desired surface as well as cutting the tape automatically on order to prevent the user's fingers to become sticky. In addition, this invention also capable of pressing the applied tape in automatic manner for securing the tape appropriately over the surface." In contrast, the present invention elaborates upon "SEMI-AUTOMATED ROLLER OPERATED DOUBLE SIDED VHB TAPING MACHINE", the present invention is concerned about affixing high bonding VHB tape rather than normal adhesive tape. Also the invention is semi-automated, powered by a DC motor and doesn't work based upon user hand gestures.Application Number: US5954918A titled "Tape wrapping machine" discloses that- "It is an object of the invention, therefore, to overcome the disadvantages of the prior art and to provide a tape wrapping machine capable of effectively and reliably wrapping tape around an article." In contrast, the present invention elaborates upon "SEMI-AUTOMATED ROLLER OPERATED DOUBLE SIDED VHB TAPING MACHINE", the present invention is concerned about affixing high bonding VHB tape rather than normal adhesive tape on flat surfaces and papers using two rollers rather than wrapping tapes without usage of a necessary slack on the tape tail supply unit and is designed for continuous taping operations without need to cut the tape in between.Application Number :202211017384 titled "Automated Tape Application Device" discloses that- " The present invention relates to an automated tape application device that provides assistance to the user for determining the coordinates of a surface in a correct manner where the tape is need to be affixed and according to which moves the device in an automated manner in varied direction." In contrast, the present invention elaborates upon "SEMI-AUTOMATED ROLLER OPERATED DOUBLE SIDED VHB TAPING MACHINE", the present invention is concerned about affixing high bonding VHB tape on flat uniform surface like papers in a continuous strip like fashion without necessarily a need for Al guided system or a coordinate referencing system since the entire process is semi-automated.OBJECTIVE OF THE INVENTION:The principal object of the present invention is to overcome the disadvantages of the prior art.To design and simulate a Semi-Automated Roller Operated Double sided VHB taping machine to affix VHB tapes onto printed stickers with minimal manual intervention. To ensure that the Semi-Automated Roller Operated Double sided VHB taping machine works with minimal error thus increasing the overall productivity and minimizing the wastage. To ensure that Semi-Automated Roller Operated Double sided VHB taping machine is flexible to future advancements especially on upgrading it to a fully automated machine. To make sure that the Semi-Automated Roller Operated Double sided VHB taping machine is highly cost-efficient and can be assembled at a minimal time 12 with easily available spare parts.DESCRIPTIONCorrespondingly, the intent of this invention is to facilitate the easy and safe manufacturing of VHB-affixed stickers for small and medium-scale VHB taping applications. It is a further intent of the present invention to ensure this semi-automated roller-operated double-sided VHB taping machine is readily flexible to future advancements, especially when upgraded to a fully automated machine. In accordance with the intent of the invention, the semi-automated roller-operated double-sided VHB taping machine consists of two polypropylene rollers, one driven using a toothed belt drive and the other mounted on the sealed bearings of the height adjustment bracket. The belt drive is powered by a DC motor. The speed control of the DC motor is interfaced with a 12V-40V 10A DC Motor PWM Speed Control Switch Governor. The required speed is achieved through a potentiometer in the speed governor. Paper can be fed through the input tray on one side of the setup. VHB tape is mounted on a polystyrene roll, which again rests on the tape feeder shaft. Another rod is inserted beneath the feeder shaft to guide the tape into the proper position within the machine. Guide plates are mounted so that posterior-29 edge paper is.always perpendicular to the roller axis. The other advantages of the present invention will become apparent from a reading of the following description of the preferred embodiments taken in connection with the attached drawingsBRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGSFig. 1 Front View (All Components assembled)Fig. 2 Back View (All Components assembled)Fig. 3 Left View (All Components assembled)Fig. 4 Right View (All Components assembled)Fig. 5 Top View (All Components assembled)Fig. 6 Bottom View (All Components assembled)Fig. 7 SE isometric view (All Components assembled)Fig. 8 SW isometric view (All Components assembled)Fig. 9 NE isometric view (All Components assembled)Fig. 10 NW isometric view (All Components assembled)Fig. 11 Height adjustment bracket- Front View Fig. 12 Height adjustment bracket- Top View Fig. 13 Height adjustment bracket- Isometric View Fig. 14 Detailed view of Height Adjustment BracketDETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGFig. 1 is the Front view of the Semi-Automated Roller Operated Double Sided VHB taping machine with all components assembled.
