Abstract

A new, economical method for fixing the patient’s head during radiotherapy with the KanaKnife device has been described as an alternative to the expensive imported mask used in this treatment. Available plastic materials were used, and a 3D print of the patient’s face was made, taking appropriate measurements to place and fix this mask on the KanaKnife device as an alternative to the imported mask, which costs up to five hundred dollars, while the cost of the materials from which the local mask is made does not exceed four dollars only. This new mask has proven its effectiveness using a motion test during installation, and this test is also certified to measure the effectiveness of the original mask included with the device.
