AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

The limited availability of high-quality dolomitic magnesite mines, reliance on imported refractory products, and the inefficiencies of existing production methods result in short shelf life, high costs, and operational challenges for dolomite-based cold-pressed masses used in electric arc furnaces, necessitating a cost-effective and locally sourced alternative.

Method used

A synthetic production method using Iranian magnesite and dolomite rocks to create sintered magnesia-dolomite aggregates, combined with sintered magnesia, to produce a cold-pressed mass with controlled Fe2O3 content, eliminating the need for additives and ensuring layer-by-layer sintering for improved durability and reduced installation time.

Benefits of technology

The synthetic method produces a cold-pressed magnesia-dolomite mass with enhanced resistance to hydration, longer shelf life, and reduced consumption, offering comparable quality at lower costs, thus reducing foreign exchange dependence and operational inefficiencies.

Abstract

Title of the invention: Creating a dolomite-based cold-pressed mass for use in the electric arc furnace of the steelmaking industry by a synthetic method. Technical background of the invention: Materials engineering and metallurgy of the refractory branch. Today, a natural method is used to produce dolomite-based cold-pressed mass, in which a mineral rock that is essentially dolomite magnesite is used. This mineral exists only in Austria, and this has not only made the consumers of this mass dependent on the only producer who owns this mine, but the quality and price of the proposed alternative products are also not comparable to the product of the natural method.\nIn the present invention, a new synthetic method is presented for the production of cold-pressed magnesia-dolomite mass, which, with the help of native mineral raw materials (magnesite and dolomite rocks) and their thermal processing, a raw material (sintered magnesia-dolomite aggregate) is produced that has similar characteristics to the mineral rock. Austrian dolomitic magnesia. Then, using this material and Iranian sintered magnesia, a mixture containing 35-45% by weight of sintered magnesia and the rest of the sintered magnesia-dolomite aggregate is prepared. After mixing these materials, the product is ready for packaging and then use in the electric arc furnace. As a result, with this synthetic production method, a cold-pressed magnesia-dolomite mass is produced, which is used for refractory lining of steelmaking furnaces. The raw materials required for this product are available and inexpensive, its production method is easy, and the time required to prepare the refractory furnace is short.
