Description

I0207517 / CS Title: "TURNING TOOL HOLDER ASSEMBLY" Applicant: TECNOTOOLS di BARONI CORRADO DESCRIPTION Field of invention

[0001] The present invention relates to the field of industrial production by turning, in particular a tool holder assembly for holding a tool cutting to perform a turning operation via a lathe. State of the art

[0002] Turning is a process of industrial production carried out by removal of chip. It is defined by a rotary motion of the piece and a rectilinear motion of the tool.

[0003] The cutting edge of the tool penetrates the material of the piece and removes the excess part, or overmetal, thus forming a chip. The machine tool used for turning is the lathe.

[0004] The cutting tool is an element made of more material harder than the workpiece, and sometimes It has the shape of an interchangeable plate having at least one sharp edge suitable for making the cut. This sharp edge is called cutting edge.

[0005] The interchangeable plate-shaped tool It generally has an upper face and a lower face lower opposite, generally flat and parallel between them, and a plurality of lateral surfaces generally flat and orthogonal to the upper and lower faces, in whose cutting edges are formed by the intersections between the two faces and the lateral surfaces.

[0006] The interchangeable plate-shaped tool is configured to be mounted at a free end of a support element having an elongated shape, called “tool holder”, or “stem”.

[0007] This plate-shaped tool can be mounted to the tool holder in a plurality of positions assembly, where in each mounting position a respective cutting edge is exposed in position cut.

[0008] This is used to be able to rotate or tilt the tool to the plate if the cutting edge in use is worn, to use a new cutting edge.

[0009] Among the interchangeable mechanical assembly systems of the plate tool to the stem is known a lever device capable of holding firmly the plate tool in a suitable seat made in the tool holder.

[0010] Such a lever system comprises a lever element having a substantially “L”-shaped shape, in which the loads are applied to the two free ends of the lever element, and in which the fulcrum is in correspondence of a point of union between the two sections straight lines of the lever element.

[0011] This system also includes a screw, the tightening pushes a first free end of the element rotating it around the fulcrum, so that the other free end of the lever element pushes sideways against a lateral surface of the plate tool holding it in its seat in the stem.

[0012] This known system has the disadvantage that the the realization of the lever element is rather expensive, as it requires at the same time a tight dimensional tolerance and high performance of mechanical resistance. The lever element, in fact, must to be able to rotate in the correct way, and at the same time, ensure the mechanical seal of the plate tool during the high stresses that develop during processing.

[0013] A fastening system for fixing a plate-type tool on the stem, so-called “clamp” tool, comprising a clamp element that holds the plate cutting tool in its seat in the stem, compressing it on its upper face against the seat itself. The clamp element is pressed against the plate tool by tightening a special tightening screw.

[0014] This fastening system has the disadvantage to present an encumbrance above the face upper part of the tool, as the clamp element is physically placed above the upper face of the tool to push it against the seat in the stem.

[0015] Another known fastening system provides for a tightening screw passing through a central hole of the plate-shaped tool, screwed into a corresponding threaded hole in the tool seat.

[0016] Again, the head of the screw clamping protrudes axially from the face upper outer part of the tool, forming a bulk external to the tool.

[0017] These solutions in which the fastening system protrudes from the upper external face of the tool are not suitable for making some turning operations as they would collide with the workpiece.

[0018] It is therefore felt that there is a need to put in place arrangement of a turning tool holder assembly which guarantees optimal mechanical seal of the turning tool in its seat in the shank tool holder, avoiding cluttering the surface top of the tool and avoiding the need for expensive side locking mechanisms. Summary of the invention

[0019] The purpose of the present invention is to devise and make available a set of turning tool holder that allows to satisfy the the aforementioned needs and to at least partially overcome the inconveniences complained about above with reference to the known technique.

[0020] In particular, the aim of the present invention is that of making available a set of turning tool holder that ensures a tight fit optimal mechanics of the turning tool in its seat in the tool holder stem, avoiding cluttering the upper surface of the tool and avoiding the need for expensive side locking mechanisms.

[0021] These and further purposes and advantages are achieved by means of a turning tool holder assembly in agreement with the independent claim.

[0022] Further purposes, solutions and advantages are present in the embodiments described below and claimed in the dependent claims. Brief description of the drawings
