AI Technical Summary
Existing solutions for monitoring infants in rear-facing child seats in vehicles require complex integration of cameras into the headrest, which is costly and difficult to implement, failing to meet the needs of vehicle manufacturers for a simple and cost-effective solution.
A cover for vehicle seats, integrated with a camera and image processing components, is designed to monitor the passenger compartment, allowing easy integration and low-cost implementation by fitting onto the headrest or backrest, with optional IR illuminators for low-light conditions.
The solution provides effective monitoring of passengers without driver distraction, ensuring safety and compliance with regulatory requirements while being easy to implement and cost-effective.
Description
DESCRIPTION of the industrial invention entitled: “Covering for a part of a motor vehicle seat, in particular for a headrest or for a portion of back" by: CRF Consortium Company for Joint Stock, of nationality Italian, Strada Torino 50 - 10043 Orbassano (TO) Designated Inventors: ROSSINI Isabella; LAMBERTINI Vito Guido **** DESCRIPTION TEXT Field of invention The present invention relates, in general, to the field of motor vehicle interiors and concerns, more specifically, a cover for a part of a seat motor vehicle, made to fit the shape of a headrest or a portion of the backrest. Known technique As is known, inside the passenger compartment of a motor vehicle one or more electronic devices may be provided security measures to monitor the presence of a living being inside the passenger compartment, especially an infant positioned in a locked child seat rear seat safety. Precisely in this context, the regulations in force in Italy relating to child seats have recently been subject to modification to improve safety; the legislation ECE R129 now requires that child seats be installed in reverse gear up to fifteen months of age child, thus increasing protection in the event of a collision frontal. In this context, for example in the case of a child seat installed on the rear seat in the direction of travel contrary to the march, it is very difficult for the Driver monitors the child while using the vehicle. There are already some known solutions that may be useful useful in this context, for example those that provide the integration of a camera into the headrest of a seat of the vehicle. However, this solution is particularly complex, as the entire headrest must be completely re-engineered to integrate the inside it is the camera with its connections to the on-board infotainment. In this perspective, there is therefore a need to develop an improved solution to meet the the aforementioned needs. Purpose of the invention It is an object of the present invention to to create a solution that can satisfy the above needs. A further object of the present invention is to to achieve this solution with relatively simple means easy to implement and low cost, respecting the needs of production of vehicle manufacturers. Summary of the invention In order to achieve these aims, the invention has for object a cover for a part of a seat of a motor vehicle, made to be fitted onto a headrest or on a portion of the backrest of said seat, wherein said cover lining comprises a camera integrated designed to frame a specific area of the vehicle's passenger compartment, when the cover is fitted on the headrest or on the backrest portion, in order to monitor the presence of a living being in the passenger compartment, for example an infant sitting in a car seat installed on the rear seat of the vehicle facing the opposite direction direction of travel. Brief description of the figures Further features and advantages of the invention will result from the following description with reference to the attached drawings, provided for illustrative purposes only, are not limiting, where: - figures 1,2 illustrate a motor vehicle seat, including a cover for a portion of the seat, according to possible embodiments of the invention, and - figures 3A-3C schematically illustrate the composition of a cover lining to adhere to the shape of a headrest, according to possible shapes of implementation of the invention. Detailed description The following description illustrates various specific details in order to provide an understanding in-depth analysis of various examples of implementation forms according to the description. Implementation forms can be obtained without one or more of the specific details, or with other procedures, components, materials, etc. In other cases, known structures, materials or operations are not illustrated or described in detail so that the various aspects of the forms of implementation are not made little clear. A reference to “an embodiment” or “a “solution” in the context of this description means indicate that a particular configuration, structure or feature described in relation to the shape of implementation is included in at least one form of implementation or solution. Phrases like “in one form of embodiment” or “in a solution” which may be present in various points of the This description does not necessarily mean that reference to exactly the same form of embodiment or solutions. Furthermore, particular conformations, structures or features can be combined in a suitable way any in one or more embodiments or solutions. The references used here are provided simply for convenience and therefore do not define the scope of protection or the scope of the forms of implementation. Again, in the various figures, similar references are used to indicate similar parts or elements, without repeat the relevant description for each one for brevity figure. In the attached drawings, with reference 1 it is indicated in the its complex a covering lining for a part of a seat 2 of a motor vehicle. As you will appreciate later, lining 1 can be advantageously made to fit the shape of a headrest 3 of seat 1 or of a portion 3' of the backrest of seat 1, for example a portion thereof superior. Preferably, the cover lining 1 is made for be applied to a part of a rear seat of motor vehicle, in particular on the headrest 3 or on a 3' backrest portion. According to an essential feature of the invention, the cover lining 1 is characterised by the fact that include an integrated 4-camera, ready for frame a specific area of the vehicle's interior, in order to monitor the presence of a living being inside the passenger compartment. In a manner known per se, camera 4 can comprise an image sensor, a lens, and a set of electronic components for management and processing of the captured images. The sensor resolution can vary according to needs, with typical resolutions ranging from a few megapixels up to tens of megapixels, depending on the required precision. The aim of the camera can be composed of one or more lenses, designed to collect and focus light onto the sensor image. The viewing angle may vary depending on the lens design. To operate in low light conditions lighting, the camera can also be equipped with IR illuminators to improve visibility without disturb passengers. According to possible characteristics illustrated in the figures 3A,3B, the cover liner 1 comprises a layer flexible conductive 5 on which are connected in position the camera 4 and a related connection circuitry 4' including at least one electrical connection cable. The cover liner 1 may also comprise a layer of internal foam 6 and an aesthetic surface layer 7 made to fit the shape of the headrest 3 or the backrest portion 4. The internal foam layer 6 can be made of expanded polyurethane. Advantageously, the inner foam layer 6 can be laminated with other materials, such as fabrics or leathers forming the layer superficial aesthetic 7. In the final configuration, the goal of the Camera 4 is enclosed inside the foam layer internal 6 and overlooking a central opening made on the aesthetic surface layer 7. Possible embodiments provide that the lining of coverage is made overall with one thickness between 3-4 mm. In one or more embodiments the camera 4 is connected to the on-board infotainment system of the vehicle, via Wi-Fi connection or with related wiring, so that the view framed by the camera can be displayed on an integrated on-board screen on the vehicle dashboard. In use, it will therefore be appreciated that the cover lining 1 can be advantageously positioned on the relevant part of the seat, with different orientation in the way that it is more advantageous to monitor any possible passenger. The cover 1 can then be advantageously positioned with the camera directed to frame an occupant in the back seat (e.g. a infant in a rear-facing car seat direction of travel), or to frame the luggage compartment (for example example to frame a pet positioned inside the luggage compartment). It will therefore be appreciated that thanks to the above mentioned features, the seat can be equipped with a “smart” lining in which a camera is integrated, for safely monitor one or more living beings in cockpit, without incurring possible distractions for the driver. Of course, the details and forms of implementation of the invention may be varied widely with respect to as described and illustrated, without however going beyond from the scope of this invention as defined in the claims that follow.
