Abstract

The container consists of a frame made up onto a solid base. The frame includes end members and longerons. The top surface of the container is fitted with plugs and the space between the frame members is filled with a double membrane (5) made from flexible material. The articles to be protected are fixed to the base centrally in the container and a number of air tight envelopes are inserted into the space in the container. The envelopes contain air or a fluid having a high vapour pressure. The remaining air in the container is evacuated.
