Inventors: Abraham BAHRY and Moshe DOLEV. Filed on November 24, 1982, under no. 442feA / 82 SUMMARY Protective cap for padlocks comprising two complementary shells, which, when they become adjacent to each other, enclose the entire padlock, each of the said shells having an upper opening for the insertion of one side of the padlock stem, as well as a larger lower opening suitable for housing the body of the padlock when the shells are are adjacent to each other; the said shells also include the means for connecting the said padlock to the door and the jamb. The present invention relates to a protective cap for padlocks of the type used for revolving or sliding doors or exits. In the terminology of the present inventive statement relating to this invention, the word door must be understood to include wooden or metal doors that are revolving or sliding and which have: Η κν vi r ' ; ν' 3 v ! f ! \ v. vit · : ; -, , , i. , ic ii, -2can be used inside a wooden or metal door frame or between the uprights of a door» hereinafter collectively called jambs. To secure a door with a padlock, a chain is required, through the links of which the padlock shank is inserted, or, alternatively, a cap with an eyelet that must be welded or screwed to the door and jamb, so that the sides of the shank can extend through the eyelets before being inserted into the body of the padlock. Therefore, special manual means must be provided to connect the padlock to the door, while with these means, the padlock is generally exposed and can be broken using a crowbar, a hammer, a heavy hacksaw, a welding torch, and so on. Padlock protection assemblies are already known, for example, those described and claimed in U.S. Patents Nos. 2,856,220, 3,744,280, 3,858,923, and 3,652,114.While these assemblies enclose the entire lock, they require separate caps to secure the lock to the objects to be connected. Other well-known padlock protection assemblies, such as the one described in U.S. patent no. 916 654, provide both a protector for lues-3- I i. Ghetto, both means of securing it, but the shank and body of the padlock must be inserted from below, which is very disadvantageous. For this reason, the padlock protection group represented In US Patent 4,106,315, the shank is immovably welded in place, so that only the The lock body must be inserted from below. of the protector. i : The present invention has the aim of providing a protective cover for a padlock, which completely encloses the entire padlock and also constitutes the means for connecting the padlock to the door and to the jamb. The invention consists of a protective cap for a padlock comprising two complementary shells, i: jL which, when brought close together, enclose the padlock, each of these groups comprising an upper opening for the insertion of one side of the shank as well as a larger and lower opening designed to house the body of the padlock when the shells are brought close together, the said shells providing attachment means for the said padlock. The door jamb and jamb as previously indicated. THE According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the sides of the shells, which come close to each other, have a profile in the form of teeth engaging with each other. The invention will now be illustrated, according to some of its embodiments, with reference to the attached drawings given for indicative purposes only and not for the purpose of limiting the scope of the invention. In. drawings: Fig. 1 shows an elevation of a revolving door equipped with a protective cap for a padlock, according to the invention; fig. 2 is a vertical section of the said cap on a larger scale, showing the lock in fainter dotted lines; Fig. 3 shows a partially sectioned perspective view of a padlock and its protective cap; Figures 5 are, respectively, an elevation and a plan view of a second embodiment of the protective cap for the padlock according to the invention; Fig.6 shows a perspective view of one of the headphone shells. The revolving door 1, which is mounted between two jambs 2, is equipped, on its edge opposite to the one bearing the hinges, with a padlock and a relative cap, generally indicated with 3. As can be seen from figure 2, the said cap is made up of two complementary shells, one of which is connected to the door 1 and the other to the jamb 2. These shells are here represented with a height such as to cover the entire padlock 5 shown in thin dotted lines, but they can also have a length suitable for covering the stem 6 only when it is inserted inside the body of the padlock 5. The shells may or may not be identical to each other and include an opening or cavity 7 at the bottom to enclose the body of the padlock while at the top they have a cavity 8. This cavity is cylindrical for most of its height going from the bottom towards the opening 7, and, at the top, has a transverse part 9 that is curved internally as can be seen from figures 2 and 3, such that it can accommodate substantially half of the stem 6. The adjacent vertical edges of the shells are straight. When the door 1 is closed, so that its vertical sides become adjacent to the jambs 2, the shells fit together to create, in their bottom, the space for the padlock 5. The stem 6 can be inserted into the openings 8 from above and pressed into the body of the padlock 5 to be closed. The protective cap serves both to protect the entire lock and to secure the lock to the door and jamb. As you can clearly see, it doesn't matter whether door 1 is a sliding door, a revolving door, or a roller shutter. In the embodiment of the cover shown in Figures 4, 5, and 6, the parts that are the same as those in Figures 1 to 3 are indicated by the same references. The complementary vertical walls of the shells 4a in this case have a toothed profile, such that the flat root 10 of the teeth 11, on one side of the longitudinal median plane of a shell, constitutes the flat crest 10a of the teeth on the other side of said plane. The flat root extends between the crests 10a on said other side of said plane. Therefore, when one of the shells is fixed to the door 1 and the other to the jamb 2, the teeth of the shells engage with each other. This makes it extremely difficult to tamper with the lock. Furthermore, the profiles of the teeth, engaging with each other in both the revolving and sliding door cases, center the door with respect to the jamb. It is understood, of course, that inter-engaging toothed profiles * other than those illustrated and described fall within the scope of the present invention and present the same advantages as the one found. It should be noted that a further advantage of the patented headphones over the conventional ones is that both the lock and the stems can be constructed in such a way as to be adapted to the uses of the aforementioned headphones or of the normal ones currently on the market.
