Abstract

In a domestic laundry dryer, the noise produced by the air-circulating fan is often objectionable. In a dryer having a fan 5 driven by a motor 4 and having an air guide duct 8, 9 leading to an output 10 in a front wall 2 of a cabinet 1, fan noise is suppressed by a reactive resonator tube 11 tuned to the frequency of the fan noise. Reflected sound waves from the end 12 of tube 11 emerge from the tube 180 DEG out of phase with the entrant sound waves. <IMAGE>
