Abstract

This device is a wire gripper used to grip wires, such as power transmission and distribution lines, during stringing. As shown in Reference Figure 1, which illustrates the usage state, this device is connected to both ends of a rod-shaped extender via its connecting portion and is used to grip and pull the wire. This device is used, for example, to create slack in the section to be cut when cutting insulated electric wire. To grip a wire, as shown in Reference Figure 2, which illustrates the usage state, first rotate the device's clamping portion to make the distance between the fixed and movable gripping bodies longer than the wire diameter of the wire. Rotating the device's clamping portion causes the retaining portion to slide over the small-diameter portion of the first link member. This causes the first and second link members pivotally attached to the operating member and the movable gripping body to rotate, allowing the length between the fixed and movable gripping bodies to be adjusted. Next, the device is lifted up to the position where the wire is to be gripped. Then, the linear object is placed between the fixed gripping body and the movable gripping body of the article at the gripping location of the linear object, and the clamping portion of the article is rotated to shorten the distance between the fixed gripping body and the movable gripping body. In this way, the linear object placed between the fixed gripping body and the movable gripping body can be gripped.
