Wire rope limit gauge

Abstract

This item is a limit gauge for wire ropes, and is used, for example, to measure the diameter of wire ropes used in cranes, etc., to determine whether or not the wire rope should be replaced. This item can be used mainly for wire ropes with odd strands. As shown in the first reference diagram showing the state of use, when the wire rope is inserted into the notch of the limit gauge for wire ropes, if a part of the surface of the wire rope engages with the step and the wire rope does not reach the back of the notch, the specified diameter is maintained and it is determined that "replacement is not necessary." As shown in the second reference diagram showing the state of use, if a part of the surface of the wire rope inserted into the notch does not engage with the step and the wire rope reaches the back of the notch, it is determined that "replacement is necessary" because the specified diameter is not maintained (the diameter is small).
