Abstract
As shown in the reference perspective view showing the usage state, the present article is a spacer used by being interposed between the flanges of the opposing retaining rings in a pipe separation prevention device for a pipe joint having a pair of retaining rings that are fixed to the outer circumferential surface of a pipe by a fastening means, and is made of an elastic body such as rubber. The present article has a convex portion that is clamped by the ends of the main bodies of the opposing retaining rings, and a through hole that penetrates the fastening means. As shown in the perspective view, when the opposing retaining rings are connected by the fastening means with the hooks at the ends of the arms of the retaining rings engaged with the grooves of the union nut, the present article prevents the opposing retaining rings from approaching each other. Therefore, when an operator inserts a pipe into a joint body, there is no need to hold the retaining rings by hand, and the workability is extremely good. Note that, as shown in the reference front view and side view showing the usage state, when the fastening means is fastened to fix the retaining rings to the outer circumferential surface of the pipe, the present article is compressed and deformed in the pipe axial direction. Since the through hole is provided close to one side surface, by placing the article between the flanges with the side surface facing the union nut, the compressed and deformed portion immediately protrudes from the tube separation prevention device when tightened. This makes it easy to visually check the compressed and deformed portion and to confirm the degree of tightening.
