Abstract

The present article is an auxiliary ring used when attaching a caliper piston to a dust boot. Conventional auxiliary rings have been produced by preparing and casting the same number of metal or resin molds according to the respective diameters, preparing and cutting out the same number of metal or resin rods according to the respective piston diameters, or processing and welding a metal plate into a ring shape according to the piston diameter and smoothing the welded surface by grinding or the like. For this reason, many parts or man-hours were required to accommodate the diameters of many target pistons, so there was room for improvement in terms of manufacturing costs. In contrast, the auxiliary ring of the present article can be produced by processing a metal plate into a ring shape according to the piston diameter, spot welding the ends, and covering the welded parts with a heat shrink tube. For this reason, the structure can prevent damage to the piston and dust boot while reducing the number of processing man-hours compared to conventional auxiliary rings. This makes it very easy to accommodate the diameters of many target pistons, and can be produced very cheaply.
