Abstract

This is a suspension aid that allows evacuees from high places to evacuate safely at an appropriate descent speed corresponding to their weight when they are lowered to the ground by hanging them from a rope. When lowering an evacuee using a hanging rope hung over a horizontal bar on a balcony, the descent speed can be reduced by increasing or decreasing the number of times the hanging rope is wrapped around the outside of the main body of the suspension aid (a pipe of a specified length). The main body is hung separately from a part of the high place. The rope can be wrapped around the main body in both a clockwise and counterclockwise direction. By reversing the winding direction at the middle part of the main body, rotation and twisting of the rope during hanging and lowering are eliminated.
