Abstract

This item is a single-seat vehicle seat installed in vehicles such as railway cars. The vehicle seat features a backrest supported at the rear end of the seat, with the backrest and seat reclining in unison. The rear of the seat and backrest are surrounded by an inner shell, and a large back shell is integrally and continuously attached to the outside of the inner shell, encompassing the entire back of the seat. The backshell has a cylindrical exterior in plan view, with the lower back of the backshell having a recessed shape that slopes forward. A reading light is provided at the top of one side of the front opening of the backshell. A pair of armrests, one on each side, are integrally formed in the areas where the inner shell or backshell covers the sides of the seat, and armrests are provided above these areas. An in-arm table is stored below one of the armrests. The in-arm table is foldable, and can be folded out and deployed to the left and right by opening and removing the armrests. A leg rest is provided below the front end of the seat so that it can be raised or lowered, and a foot rest is provided on the leg rest so that it can be extended or retracted.
