Abstract

This product prevents or suppresses deformation of the column structure of a wooden building due to an earthquake. The product consists of a base part, a sliding part that slides on the base part, and a damper part that is located inside the base part and has the open end of a cylinder rod fixed to the sliding part. The damper part controls the extension and retraction of the cylinder rod by the internal pressure. As shown in the "Reference diagram showing the state of use," the product is placed with the base part of the product fixed to approximately the middle of the height of an upright column of a wooden building. A brace material is provided from the sliding part of the product fixed to the column material, extending upward toward another column material, and another brace material is provided from the sliding part of the product, extending downward toward another column material. When an earthquake occurs, deformation of the column structure is transmitted via the brace material to the sliding part of this product, causing the sliding part to slide on the base, but the amount of sliding of the sliding part is regulated by the load of the protruding cylinder rod of the damper part, thereby preventing or suppressing deformation of the columns of wooden buildings due to earthquakes. This product constitutes what is known as a K-type vibration control device.
