Abstract

The article "Silencer for Cooling Tower" relating to the present design is installed on the upper part of the cooling tower body and reduces noise that would otherwise spread to the outside along with the exhaust from the cooling tower. The silencer comprises a hexagonal truncated pyramidal silencer installed above the center of the blower in the cooling tower, and a peripheral wall that surrounds the blower and silencer. In addition, approximately triangular prism-shaped second silencers are integrally provided with the peripheral wall at the inner corners of three corner sections. A mounting frame for attaching to the cooling tower body is provided on the lower side of the peripheral wall. The fan stack and blower, which form part of the cooling tower, are also fixed to this mounting frame, and by attaching the mounting frame to the cooling tower body, the cooling tower with the silencer can be completed. The silencer has a hollow box-shaped outer shell formed from a combination of perforated plates or mesh materials through which air can flow, and a sound-absorbing material disposed inside this outer shell. The silencer is positioned with its frustum-shaped top facing downwards towards the blower. The perimeter wall and the second silencer have a hollow outer shell and sound-absorbing material placed in the hollow portion inside the outer shell. The inner surface of the outer shell facing the silencer is formed of a perforated plate or mesh through which air can flow. In other words, the perimeter wall is also a type of silencer. In a cooling tower, noise travels upwards as well as the air discharged upwards by the blower. By positioning the silencer in the path of this airflow, the noise enters the silencer and its energy is attenuated. Furthermore, the perimeter wall and the second silencer surrounding the blower suppress the diffusion of noise to the sides, thus suppressing the diffusion of noise to the outside of the cooling tower as a whole.
