Abstract

This item is a carpenter's square used in construction. In two-by-four construction, 2x4 lumber (38mm x 89mm) is often used as structural material. As shown in the [Reference Diagram illustrating Usage], the carpenter's square has a long side of 89mm, with the scale starting from the outer tip of the long side and also from the inner corner of the long side. By making the long side 89mm, the carpenter's square does not extend more than 89mm, so even if the back is finished or there are objects in the way when creating a right angle, it can be done without interference. In addition, the inside of the short side has scales from "1 sun" to "6 sun," making it easy to determine the slope. Furthermore, the outside of the short side has a scale for a plumb bob, making it easy to check whether columns and walls are vertical at the construction site. In addition, through holes are formed at the 0mm position and the 44.5mm (89mm ÷ 2) position on the scale on the inside of the long side. These through holes are convenient for drawing circles and lines.
