Abstract

The transparent sphere covering the head was purchased and modified from a product of Hasegawa Seisakusho (Kawagoe City, Saitama Prefecture). By attaching a "Cleair win" air conditioner filter from Square Plus (a company that invested in the product) to the outside of a fan embedded in the base of the helmet (to take in air) and a fan attached to the top of the sphere (to exhaust air), it is possible to breathe clean air in a simple way. The exhaust fan attached to the top of the sphere (in the rear view) allows breathing to be maintained by releasing the exhaled breath which turns into water vapor. To prevent the helmet (the sphere itself) from fogging up, an exhaust vent is installed at the back of the head (in an arc from the 12 o'clock to 3 o'clock position in the right side view). The exhaust vent has a concave outer surface and a convex inner surface, with a key-like protrusion on the upper side of the latter (the convex part), making it possible to attach and detach the exhaust vent without the need for adhesive. The exhaust vents in the drawing are mounted with wires running from the 12 o'clock position (when viewed in plan view), creating a mohawk (or comb) shape. However, it is also possible to run wires from the 11 o'clock and 1 o'clock positions to accommodate new exhaust vents. The D-rings attached to the top of the base in the right and left side views of the drawing act as clamps, allowing the base to be bonded without the need for adhesive, as it is a segmented design.
