Abstract

This image shows the settings used to adjust the damping force and other parameters of the shock absorbers installed on a vehicle. The settings of the shock absorbers can be adjusted using the adjustment buttons and selector switches shown in the reference diagram illustrating the function of each part. Specifically, in addition to setting the damping force of the shock absorbers, the "auto mode selector switch" allows you to select whether the damping force of the shock absorbers can be automatically varied in response to accelerator and steering operations and vehicle movement due to road surface irregularities. Furthermore, the "ride control adjustment button" allows you to adjust the degree to which the vehicle equipped with the shock absorbers is suppressed by road surface irregularities, including vertical movement (up and down), longitudinal sway, and lateral sway. The "handling control adjustment button" allows you to set whether the handling of the vehicle equipped with the shock absorbers is soft or hard (whether the steering response is quicker or harder), and the degree to which longitudinal sway is suppressed in response to accelerator and brake inputs. The "speed adapt button" allows you to adjust the damping force according to the vehicle speed.
