Coated battery

Abstract

Multiple coatings are directly bonded to the surface of the battery. These coatings dissolve when a child puts the battery in their mouth. For example, the bitter-tasting components or colored (e.g., blue) coolant in the coatings encourage the child to spit out the battery instead of swallowing it. The discoloration of the child's tongue or mouth allows parents or guardians to quickly notice that a child has put a battery in their mouth, enabling them to seek medical attention immediately.
