Abstract

This item is a chair designed to maintain the correct posture for Zen meditation, and is a piece of wooden furniture made from solid cedar wood. In particular, it is designed to allow the user to naturally maintain the correct Zen meditation posture with the pelvis upright, thanks to the inclusion of a guide section that supports the sacrum. Furthermore, by intentionally making the front-to-back dimensions of the seat shorter, it provides stability when seated in the correct posture, while making it difficult to sit down if the posture is compromised, thus naturally encouraging correct posture. The chair is also symmetrical when viewed from the front, and the seat is part of a symmetrical ellipse. With this design, the user can naturally maintain the correct Zen meditation posture on a chair with legs without any special effort, making it comfortable for both beginners and experienced Zen practitioners.
