Abstract

This image is used in golf software to support a round of golf, helping players consider club selection. The image is overlaid on aerial photographs or illustrations of the golf course. The blue dot indicates the ball position, and the green dot enclosed in a circle indicates the predicted landing point when hit with a specific club. The predicted landing point can be set to the ball's carry distance or to the final stopping point after the ball rolls (total distance). When a club is selected according to the software's functions, the predicted landing point for that club is displayed. By manipulating the image near the predicted landing point using flicking or dragging, the landing point can be moved along a guide (see Figure 2). In other words, the predicted landing point can be moved left or right while maintaining distance. The distance from the ball position to the predicted landing point and the distance from the predicted landing point to the cup are displayed. However, since the distance changes depending on the selected club, changing the club will alter the position of the predicted landing point, the distance from the ball position to the predicted landing point, and the distance from the predicted landing point to the cup. Furthermore, by moving the predicted landing point left or right, the distance from the predicted landing point to the cup changes. If you select a club with a shorter distance than the club selected in Figures 1 and 2, it will change as shown in Figure 3. Conversely, if you select a club with a longer distance, the distance from the ball position to the predicted landing point will increase. Even if the distance changes as shown in Figure 3, you can move the predicted landing point left or right while maintaining the distance, as shown in Figures 1 and 2. The reference image shows an example of applying this image to a smartphone app, and is a screen for considering club selection on a certain course. You can select a club by operating the club selection box. Clubs are arranged in order of distance within the club selection box, and you can select a club by scrolling up and down. The selected club is displayed in the center of the box, within a green frame. If you select the 4U (4-iron utility) club, the predicted landing point is displayed as 220 yards away (Reference Image 1). The club distance can be set according to the player's ability.The remaining distance from the predicted landing point to the cup is 127 yards. Swiping the image near the predicted landing point to the left will move the predicted landing point to the left along the guide (see reference image 2). Swiping to the right will move the predicted landing point to the right along the guide. If you select the 5U (5-iron utility) club, the distance will be shorter and the distance to the cup will be longer (see reference image 3). Similar to reference images 1 and 2, you can move the predicted landing point left or right while maintaining the distance.
