Abstract

This image is used in golf software to support a round of golf, helping players consider club selection. It is displayed overlaid on aerial photographs or illustrations of the golf course. The blue dot indicates the ball position, and the green dot enclosed in a circle indicates the predicted landing point when hit with a specific club. The predicted landing point can be set to the ball's carry distance or to the final stopping point after the ball rolls (total distance). This image shows the display when the predicted landing point is on the green. When a club is selected according to the software's functions, the predicted landing point for that club is displayed. By manipulating the image near the predicted landing point using flicking or dragging, the landing point can be moved along a guide. In other words, the predicted landing point can be moved left or right while maintaining distance. The distance from the ball position to the predicted landing point is displayed, but since the distance changes depending on the selected club, changing the club will alter the position of the predicted landing point and the distance from the ball position to the predicted landing point. When the predicted landing spot lands on the green, the distance to the green edge (distance from the ball position to the front edge of the green and distance from the ball position to the back edge of the green) is displayed, as shown in the image. The reference image shows an example of applying this image to a smartphone app, and is a screen for considering club selection on a certain course. When a specific club is selected, the predicted landing spot on the green, 85 yards away, is displayed. By flicking the image near the predicted landing spot, the predicted landing spot moves left or right on the guide. Flicking the image near the predicted landing spot to the left moves the predicted landing spot to the left on the guide, and flicking to the right moves the predicted landing spot to the right on the guide. Since the predicted landing spot is on the green, the distance to the green edge is displayed. The distance from the ball position to the front edge of the green is 74 yards, and the distance to the back edge of the green is 94 yards. When the predicted landing spot changes, the distance to the green edge also changes.
