Biometric authentication by vascular survey

Abstract

Presented here are approaches to authenticating unknown individuals based on temporal changes in the spatial characteristics and directionality of blood flow through blood vessels. At a high level, these approaches rely on monitoring vascular dynamics to recognize unknown individuals. For example, an authentication platform may examine a digital image of an anatomical region and establish how the characteristics of the vasculature within the anatomical region have changed as a result of deformation. Example characteristics include the location, size, volume, and pressure of the blood vessels contained within the vasculature, as well as the velocity and acceleration of blood flowing through the vasculature.
