AI Technical Summary
Optical components are required to further suppress yellowing and maintain transparency, especially in applications like smartphone cameras and lenses for head-mounted displays, where conventional cyclic olefin resin compositions fail to maintain transparency and resist thermal oxidative deterioration.
A cyclic olefin resin composition containing a cyclic olefin resin, a phenolic antioxidant, and a phosphorus stabilizer with a 10% mass loss temperature of 275°C or higher, balanced with specific content ratios to suppress transparency and yellowing, is developed.
The composition achieves molded articles and optical components with reduced transparency and yellowing, maintaining high optical performance under thermal stress.

[0074] The cyclic olefin copolymer (P2) can be produced by appropriately selecting the conditions according to the methods described in, for example, JP-A-60-168708, JP-A-61-120816, JP-A-61-115912, JP-A-61-115916, JP-A-61-271308, JP-A-61-272216, JP-A-62-252406, JP-A-62-252407, JP-A-2007-314806, JP-A-2010-241932, etc.
[0075] It is preferable that the cyclic olefin resin (A) does not contain a carbon-carbon double bond, but if it does, the amount is preferably 0.5 g or less per 100 g of the cyclic olefin resin (A). By substantially not containing a carbon-carbon double bond, deterioration of the resin composition can be suppressed, which is preferable. [0079] (Phenol-based antioxidant (B)) The cyclic olefin resin composition of the present embodiment contains a phenol-based antioxidant (B). The phenol-based antioxidant (B) may be used alone or in combination of two or more kinds. By including a phenol-based antioxidant (B) in the cyclic olefin resin composition, yellowing during molding of the cyclic olefin resin composition can be suppressed, and a decrease in the transparency of the molded product can be suppressed.
[0080] The phenol-based antioxidant (B) is not particularly limited, and for example, a known phenol-based antioxidant can be used. However, it is preferable that the phenol-based antioxidant (B) contains at least one selected from the group consisting of pentaerythritol tetrakis[3-(3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)propionate], 1,3,5-tris(3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxybenzyl)-1,3,5-triazine-2,4,6(1H,3H,5H)-trione, 3,9-bis{2-[3-(3-tert-butyl-4-hydroxy-5-methylphenyl)propionyloxy]-1,1-dimethylethyl}-2,4,8,10-tetraoxaspiro[5.5]undecane, and 1,3,5-tris(3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyphenylmethyl)-2,4,6-trimethylbenzene.

The 10% mass loss temperature of the phosphorus-based stabilizer (C) means a temperature measured by the method described in the Examples.
[0082] If the cyclic olefin resin composition contains a phosphorus-based stabilizer having a 10% mass loss temperature of less than 275° C., yellowing of the cyclic olefin resin composition during molding may be promoted.
